Women Behind Cowboys

Our old WBC's were 20 page full color publications with Christian articles, interviews of rodeo wives, and over thirty pictures.  We started these in 1999, and we took a few years off to regroup our ministry.

We are no longer publishing Women Behind Cowboys.  Due to the economic situation in America we thought it unwise to start up a new magazine.

Instead we have added numerous features to our site, that are very modestly priced.

The majority of us that worked on this publication have been Christians for at least twenty years, and together we struggled with trying to be the best Christians we can be. At one point, we spent six months of Bible study on Romans 8:1, which says, "there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

Why did it take us so long to get it, you might ask? For one thing, we are hard headed and sometimes very slow to learn. But the biggest hang up was our striving to be perfect, to do everything right, to be everything to everyone, and then failing. When we failed, we were more than hard on ourselves. We beat ourselves up mentally, we condemned ourselves. Because we condemned ourselves, we thought that was what God was doing also. We thought to be a Christian, we had to be perfect, and when we failed, we deserved a good whipping. God was trying to love us, comfort us, and help us while we were making ourselves miserable by rejecting what He wanted to give. God was so patient with us, using His kindness to lead us to repentance.

Couple EmbracingYes, our Heavenly Father disciplines, but always with love, comfort, and the hope of restoration. God's discipline never condemns us or banishes us from His presence. He is always trying to draw us to Him. He wants to protect us from the world, and from the devil. It is our sin that makes God seem far away, but our Heavenly Father loves us so much and wants so much to give us all that we need, He is working to bring us close to Him. That is why Jesus came and died so that we might draw near to God.

Since our struggle with learning to live Romans 8:1, we have found that many women are like us--wanting to be good, demanding nothing less than being a superwoman. It is okay to want to be perfect, Jesus tells us to have that desire, the problem is that we are not merciful with ourselves when we fail. If we aren't perfect in our eyes, we condemn ourselves. God is merciful with our failures. When we screw up, He is there to help us and pick us up to go on. Any of us can get so focused on the failures and wrong things in our life that we don't see what we or anyone else is doing right. We can't see God work either.

This publication is written to encourage any of you who sometimes feel as though you have failed as a woman, wife, or Mom.  This is written to you who feel as though you sometimes miss the mark in living a life pleasing to God.

We here at Western Meadows know your struggle; we've been there.  All of us have failed miserably in our past, and wish we could do things over.  We struggle with feeling stupid, inadequate, unworthy, unattractive, wrinkled, and cellulite loaded.  We know that whatever we struggle with, God loves us more than we can imagine.  By letting the power of the Holy Spirit work in us, we know God is doing what He promises, making something beautiful out of our lives.

God wants to make us beautiful in His eyes!  Can you imagine what beautiful must be to our Creator?  When He created the world, He said that it was good.  Think of the most beautiful thing you have ever seen.  Your beautiful memory is probably mediocre compared to the beauty Christ wants to work in you.

So; we with Women Behind Cowboys want to encourage you to do what honors God.  We want to encourage you to love your sisters in the Lord, and see the things that they are doing right.  We want to encourage you to see the good that God is doing.
