We started praying these scriptures for the NFR in November 20070, we continue today and urge you to join us.
Print this page and hold this wonderful event and all who are involved in it up to the Lord!

Psalm 97:10-12  Pray for all Christians while at the NFR
Let those who love the Lord, hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
Light is shed upon the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.
Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name.

Psalm 99:1-5 Pray for all leaders putting on the NFR.
We pray that the fear of the Lord would be put into the people running this rodeo.
The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim,
let the earth shake.  Great is the Lord in Zion’ he is exalted over all the nations,
Let them praise your great and awesome name, he is holy.
The King is mighty he loves justice—you have established equity;
in Jacob you have done what is just and right.
Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.

Psalm 101:1-8  Pray for Christian cowboy leaders
I will sing of your love and justice; to you, O Lord, I will sing praise.
I will be careful to lead a blameless life— when will you come to me?
I will walk in my house with blameless heart.
I will set before my eyes no vile thing.
The deeds of faithless men I hate, they will not cling to me.
Men of perverse heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with evil.
Whoever slanders his neighbor in secret, him will I put to silence, whoever has haughty eyes and a proud heart, him will I not endure.
My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me, he whose walk is blameless will minister to me.
No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house, no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence.
Every morning I will put to silence all the wicked in the land,  I will cut off every evildoer from the city of the Lord.

Psalm 103:1-22  Praise to God for who He is and what He wants to give us.
  • Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name,
  • Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits—
  • Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
  • The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.
  • He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel;
  • The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
  • He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
  • he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
  • For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
  • as far as the east is from the west, so far has re removed our transgressions from us.
  • As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him: for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.
  • As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.
  • But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children—with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.
  • The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.  Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.
  • Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will.
  • Praise the Lord, all his works everywhere in his dominion.  Praise the Lord, O my soul.

Psalm 108:1-5; 12-13 A promise to praise God.
  • My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my soul.
  • Awake, harp, and lyre!  I will awaken the dawn.
  • I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.
  • For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
  • Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, and let your glory be over all the earth.
  • Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless.
  • With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.

Psalm 112:1-10  Pray for God’s protection of the cowboys, particularly for those competing at the NFR.
  • Praise the Lord.
  • Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in his commands.
  • His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.
  • Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever.
  • Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man.
  • God will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice.  Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever.  He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
  • His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
  • He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be lifted high in honor.
  • The wicked man will see and be vexed, he will gnash his teeth and waste away; the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.

James 1:2-8  Pray for ministries struggling with endurance and perseverance.
  • Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.
  • For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
  • So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
  • If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.
  • He will not rebuke you for asking.
  • But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone.
  • Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.
  • Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
  • Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

Ezekiel 34:25-28  Pray that God will do this for cowboy families.
  • I will make a covenant of peace with my people and drive away the dangerous animals from the land.
  • They will be able to camp safely in the wildest places and sleep in the woods without fear.
  • I will bless my people and their homes around my holy hill.
  • And in the proper season I will send the showers they need.
  • There will be showers of blessing.
  • The orchards and fields of my people will yield bumper crops, and everyone will live in safety.  When I have broken their chains of slavery and rescued them from those who enslaved them, they will know that I am the Lord.
  • They will no longer be prey for other nations and wild animals will no longer devour them.  They will live in safety, and no one will frighten them.

Daniel 9:4-19  A prayer of repentance and asking God’s mercy on the world of cowboys.  When you read this prayer it parallels the history of the PRCA.  Because God is the same yesterday, today and forever we can personalize this prayer for the PRCA and all the members.  We need God’s mercy because we, the PRCA have sinned and rebelled greatly against God.  We don’t deserve God’s blessings but, as Daniel said, we can ask.  We asked boldly that God would bring revival and blessings to the world of cowboys.

  • I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed:  O Lord, you are a great and awesome God!
  • You always fulfill your covenant and keep your promises of unfailing love to those who love you and obey your commands.
  • But we have sinned and done wrong.
  • We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations.
  • We have refused to listen to your servants the prophets, who spoke on your authority to our kings and princes and ancestors and to all the people of the land.
  • “Lord, you are in the right; but as you see, our faces are covered with shame.
  • This is true of all of us, including the people of Judah and Jerusalem and all Israel, scattered near and far, wherever you have driven us because of our disloyalty to you.
    • Lord, we and our kings, princes, and ancestors are covered with shame because we have sinned against you.
  • But the Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him.
  • We have not obeyed the Lord our God, for we have not followed the instructions he gave us through his servants the prophets.
  • All Israel has disobeyed your instruction and turned away, refusing to listen to your voice.
  • So now the solemn curses and judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured down on us because of our sin.
  • You have kept your word and done to us and our rulers exactly as you warned.
  • Never has there been such a disaster as happened in Jerusalem.
  • Every curse written against us in the Law of Moses has come true.
  • Yet we have refused to seek mercy from the Lord our God by turning from our sins and recognizing his truth.
  • Therefore, the Lord has brought upon us the disaster he prepared.
  • The Lord our God was right to do all of these things, for we did not obey him.
    • Lord our God, you brought lasting honor to your name by rescuing your people from Egypt in a great display of power.
  • But we have sinned and are full of wickedness.
  • In view of all your faithful mercies, Lord, please turn your furious anger away from your city Jerusalem, your holy mountain.
  • All the neighboring nations mock Jerusalem and your people because of our sins and the sins of our ancestor.
    • our God, hear your servant’s prayer!  Listen as I plead.
  • For your own sake, Lord smile again on your desolate sanctuary.
    • my God, lean down and listen to me.
  • Open your eyes and see our despair.
  • See how your city—the city that bears your name—lies in ruins.
  • We make this plea, not because we deserve help, but because of your mercy.  O Lord, hear.  O Lord, forgive. O Lord listen and act!
  • For your own sake, do not delay, O my God, for your people and your city bear your name.
