New Testament

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I come boldly to You realizing that I need You.

We cowboys need You.

You have withheld your blessings because of our great disobedience.

Forgive us.

Teach us to fear and obey you.

As we boldly come to your throne of grace be merciful to us.

We are great sinners and we greatly need your grace and forgiveness.

Strengthen us by your Holy Spirit that we might learn to obey, that we might receive your blessings.

Forgive me for being a glory hog.

Help me to want you to be glorified, not me!

Forgive my sins of pride, self-centeredness, and selfishness!

In the mighty name of Jesus,

Amen

PRAYER AND WARFARE

“THE PRAYER CLOSET IS THE BATTLEFIELD OF THE CHURCH.”

“It cannot be stated too frequently that the life of a Christian
is a warfare, an intense conflict, a lifelong contest.

It is a battle, moreover, waged against invisible foes,
who are ever alert and ever seeking
to entrap, deceive, and ruin the souls of men.

Prayer is our most formidable weapon.

Nothing advances Satan’s work with more skillful hands
than to be ignorant of Satan and his ways.

To escape his snare, we must have a strong faith in the fact that Satan exists.

We must also have an intimate knowledge of him and his plans.”

E.M. Bounds

"And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one."

Matthew 6:13

Jesus said, “This dear woman, a daughter of Abraham, has been held in bondage by Satan for 18 years.  Isn’t it right that she be released, even on the Sabbath?”

Luke 13:16

"And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power.

Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him."

Acts 10:38

A final word: "Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.  Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil."

Ephesians 6:11-12

"So humble yourselves before God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Come close to God and God will come close to you.

Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world."

James 4:7-8

"Stay alert!  Watch out for your great enemy, the devil.  He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.  Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith."

1 Peter 5:8-9

Prayer

Heavenly Father, lead us by your Spirit and help us!

Rescue us from the devil!

By the power of your name and the power of the blood of Jesus Christ we command all demonic influence to flee.

Devil, you have held cowboys in bondage way to long.

Jesus came to set us free.

Give us that freedom.

Free to be what you created us to be!

Free to receive the life of joy and peace that Jesus came to give.

Give us strength to stand firm.

Give us spiritual eyes to see the attacks of the enemy.

Jesus, be glorified in the world of cowboys!

In the mighty name of Jesus,

Amen
