ASKING FOR GOD’S COMPLETE LIFE
By the power of the Holy Spirit, Paul prayed these verses for the church of Ephesus.
Let’s pray them for ourselves.
Ephesians 3:16-19 in the New Living Translation reads,
“I pray that from his glorious unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him.
Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you
have the power to understand, as all God’s people should,
How wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”
I have lied to myself for years. I’ve said You couldn’t love me. I thought a relationship of love with You—my Creator and Savior—couldn’t include me. But I was wrong. You want me.
I repent of my unbelief. Lord, help my unbelief. I want to believe Your love is drawing me.
Open my heart. Go ahead; lavish Your love on me. I’m ready to receive.
I want to hear You. I want to see You. I want You to show me Your glory, Your beauty, Your love. Captivate me. Envelop me. Lord, please have mercy on me, a sinner. Soften my hard heart. Let Your living water soak up every microscopic speck of hardness. I want to be soft toward You. Please give me the new heart I need. I thought You had walked away, but that’s a lie. You have been waiting for me to come to you. I come now, totally and unreservedly. I am Your child and I come to receive all that I need for living a truly godly life. I want to fall in love with You. We want what Paul wanted for the church of Ephesus.
First, we ask that You empower us with inner strength through the Holy Spirit. Thank You that Your resources are glorious and unlimited as we tap into this totally awesome possibility.
Secondly, thank You that Christ will make His home in my heart as I trust Him. Help me to trust You with all my heart. Help me trust Your words. Thirdly, I thank You that I will have deep roots to keep me strong as I accept and believe in Your love for me and forthe world.
Finally, I beg for the power to understand how vast Your love is for me. May I experience Christ’s love for me. And we thank You that we’ll be made complete, with ALL the LIFE and POWER THAT COMES FROM GOD.
